Cold & Hot Packs are Incredibly Useful
Cold and hot packs have a thousand uses. Cold packs can be used to cool an injury which will slow down blood flow and decrease the amount of pain and swelling taking place. Cold therapy will slow circulation, which will reduce the amount of inflammation taking place, or calm a muscle spasm to lessen the pain. It should be used if the area is swelling or bruising. You can use cold packs for up to 48 hours after an injury takes place so it’s wise to keep a couple of these on-hand in case of accidents.
Heat Therapy for Sore Muscles
Similarly, heat opens up blood vessels, which will increase blood flow and supply oxygen and nutrients to reduce the pain in joints and soothe sore muscles, ligaments, and tendons. The heat can also halt muscle spasms for improved range of motion. Hot packs should be used in 20 minute intervals to prevent skin damage.
